Consolidates – The Sykesville National Bank Merges with $2,600,000 Institution

October 23, 1930

In order to provide larger banking facilities, and also to meet a pressing need in this community for Trust Services, last Friday the Directors of The Sykesville National Bank decided to consolidate with the Central Trust Company of Maryland, subject to the final ratification by the Stockholders on Friday, November 21st.

The Central Trust Company of Maryland, whose main office is in Frederick, has nine other branches and is the largest Trust Company in Western Maryland, having a capital of $1,000,000 and a surplus and undivided profits of over $1,600,000.

The local bank is to be congratulated upon this proposed merger, which will enable it to serve the community in the capacity of Guardian, Trustee, Committee, Executor and Administrator, under appointment, through the experienced officers of its legal department.

The Board of Directors desire to express their appreciation of the confidence and support of its many patrons and friends in the past, and they solicit a continuance of the same as they endeavor to enlarge the sphere of banking usefullness.

While the bank will operate under a new name the local directorate, officers and employees will remain the same.
