Federal Assistance Extended

June 29, 1972

Carroll County is among nine counties recommended for “immediate assistance”, according to Francis X. Carney of Emergency Preparedness. The request has been approved.

Mr. Carney feels confident that his agency will be able to take care of the people and put Maryland back on its feet within a month.

“In those areas, we will immediately begin taking care of the people, getting them into temporary housing – for up to a year if necessary – and starting unemployment compensation right away,” he said.
