Girl, 10, Accidentally Shot; Dies Instantly

A 10-year-old colored girl was accidentally shot between the eyes and instantly killed about 6:30 o’clock Sunday evening in the kitchen of her parents’ home, 2 1/2 miles south of West Friendship, on Route 32, State Police Reported.

The child was identified as Irene Cleamons, daughter of James and Ann Cleamons.

First Sergt. Thomas M. Higuutt and Trooper I C Frank Badger said after an investigation that Ralph M. James, 22, colored, 1629 Abbott street, Baltimore, a visitor at the Cleamons’ home was handling a .22 calibre rifle in the kitchen when it suddenly went off.

James was released after the investigation.
