Meathouse Burns

January 3, 1946

A loss difficult to replace in these days of food shortages was sustained by the Strawbridge Home for Boys near Eldersburg last Friday night when fire destroyed a smoke house in which the meat of eight hogs was being cured. The building and contents were beyond saving when the blaze was discovered around 10:30 p.m. Sykesville firemen answered a call to the scene. The loss was covered by insurance.
