Wife of Former State Senator Passes On

Had Long Been Ill

End Come About Three-Thirty Saturday Afternoon; Funeral Services, Attended by May, Held on Monday Morning

The community was saddened on Saturday to learn of the passing of Mrs. Ellen Waterhouse Warfield, wife of former State Senator Wade H. D. Warfield, at the family home, “The Ranch,” Sykesville. Although Mrs. Warfield had been ill for sometime she had remained cheerful and bore her sufferings with great fortitude, and the end came peacefully about three-thirty Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Warfield was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Waterhouse of W. Va. In 1898 she was united in marriage with Mr. Warfield and they came to Maryland to live. She was a graduate of Mount de Chantal academy of Wheeling and was prominent in the younger social circles of that city, prior to her marriage.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Mrs. James O. Ridgley, of Syksville; Mrs. DeVries Cassard, of Fortress Monroe, VA., and Mrs. Morgan Ott Taylor, of Washington Pa. The are al also thee sisters and two brothers: Mrs. John J. Coniff, Mrs. Arch A. Wilson and Mrs. N. A. Haning; Charles and Frank Waterhouse, all of Wheeling.

The funeral services were held from St. Josephi’s Catholic Church on Monday morning at 10 o’clock, the Rev. Father Nelligan celebrating the requiem Mass, and interment took place in Springfield Cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Messrs. Herbert Oliver, Joseph Oliver, James O. Ridglely, C. Lowndes Bennet, Louis P. Schultz and Wilson S. Shipley.

All that the entire community can offer in this dark hour, its heartfelt solicitude and sympathy, the family have in the fullest.
