Named Clinical Director At Springfield Hosp.

Dr. Frederick P. Pokrass has been appointed Director of Clinical Services of the Springfield State Hospital of the Department of Mental Hygiene. It was announced today by Dr. Isadore Tuerk, Commissioner.

Since July 1965 Dr. Pokrass has served at the hospital as the Director of Community Psychiatric Services. He is a native of Towanda, Pennsylvania, graduated with a B.A. degree from Cornell University and received his M.D. degree in 1937 from the University of Maryland.

He served his internship and residency in Pennsylvania and for three years engaged in the private practice of medicine in Reading. From 1942 to 1946 he served with the U.S. Navy and was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Dr. Pokrass was Chief of the Department of Psychiatry of the Reading Community General Hospital from 1950 to 1961.
