Pastor for Springfield

June 13, 1918

Rev. Wm. E. Phifer, of Georgia, Will Begin Pastorate in July

The members of Springfield Presbyterian Church are rejoicing that they are once again to have a permanent pastor. The church has been without a minister since the death of Rev. William H. Muirhead. Recently a call was extended to the Rev. William E. Phifer, of Madison, Georgia, and a committee from the church heard him preach. He has been desirous of coming North and decided to accept the call in Springfield. He will bring his family here some time in July, and until October they will occupy the college to be vacated by Harry Hesse, on Springfield Avenue, moving to the manse as soon as it is available.

Mr. Phifer will be warmly welcomed in Sykesville. He is a forceful preacher and has been prominent in the Presbytery from which he comes. He has an interesting family, consisting of a wife and three children.
