Penguins In Final Game of Play-Offs

October 12, 1950

The Penguins Softball Club will close their long season this Sunday by playing Pleasant Valley one game at the local school grounds. The season was prolonged because four teams ended the regular season tied for second place in the league standings, which necessitated a play-off for that position.

The Penguin Club defeated the other clubs to gain second place. In addition there was another playoff in a double elimination tournament between all the clubs in the league for a cup. The local boys have also eliminated all of the clubs in this playoff except one remaining game with Pleasant Valley this Sunday.

If the boys can take this last remaining game, they can justly be proud of their record as it has been a hard grind to wade through both sets of playoffs and emerge victorious in both, against very strong clubs comprising of the Baltimore Carroll County League.
