Purple Heart Vet, 22, Killed In Auto Crash

Pfc. Glenn W. Miller, who was honorably discharged April 3 from the Army after being wounded while serving under General Hodges in Germany, was instantly killed at 11 o’clock last Friday evening in an automobile accident near Smallwood. He resided with his parents, O. Herschel and Della Arnold Miller, near Westminster and was aged 22 years and unmarried. He had received a Purple Heart medal.

He was operating a car alone and the machine ran up an embankment and turned over. Sterling Collins, Sykesville, who discovered the wrecked car, gave information at Baker’s store, Smallwood, and Sheriff Charles Conaway and Dr. S. Luther Bare were notified. Death was due to a fractured skull. The auto was demolished.
