Rites Held For Two Youths Drowned In Liberty Lake

July 1, 1971

Funeral services were held Tuesday for two Randallstown brothers who drowned last Saturday afternoon while swimming in the Liberty Reservoir.

Bodies of the victims, Glenn Edward Duff, 16, and Sherman Larry Duff, 21, were recovered from the lake by State Police scuba divers on Sunday.

The police report indicated the younger brother apparently suffered cramps while swimming in the reservoir, near Pine Knob and Mineral Hill Roads, and called for help.

The older brother swam to his assistance but both went down in deep water some 25 yards off shore.

The two young men are survived by their parents, Sherman R. and Mildred E. Duff, Randallstown, four brothers and a sister.

The funeral services were conducted at the Loring Byers chapel, Liberty Road, by Pastor Raymond Casson the Eldersburg Congregation, Jehovah’s Witnesses. Burial was in Lakeview Memorial Park.
