Ceremony Performed In Holiday Setting At Bride’s Home

A Lovely wedding of the holiday season was that of Miss Dorothy Clarke, talented daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence R. Clarke, Sykesville, and George William Schafer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Schafer, near Marriottsville, which took place at the home of the bride’s parents on Saturday evening.

xxx a festive setting of Christmas xxns and candlelight, the Rev. W. xxxk Main, former Sykesville Minister, now pastor of Trinity Methodist Church at Cumberland, performed the xxxe ring ceremony at 7 ‘o’ clock before a group of approximately sixty relatives and friends.

Music for the occasion was rendered by Miss Jean Lutz, harpist of Roland xxxx, Baltimore. Just before the ceremony, she and the bride’s brother Donald F. Clarke, Navy R.O.T.C., University of Mississippi, violinist, played Bach-Gounod’s “Ave Maria.”

While the harpist played the Lohengrin March, members of the wedding party took their positions for the ceremony before a fireplace banked with laurel xxxxpine and vases of white flowers, the bride entered with her father, by xxx she was given in marriage. She wore the traditional gown of ivory xxx touched with lace at yoke and xxx with a long train, and a finger-xxxx that fell from a Juliet cap of xxx pearls. She carried a bouquet of xxxx and xxxxxx.

The matron of honor was Mrs. William, C. Gray, the former Miss Mary xxx Main, daughter of the presiding minister and a childhood friend. Mrs. Main wore a gown of scarlet vel-xxx and carried an old-fashioned xxxnet.

xxx Charles E.T. Schafer, Navy, xxxned in Washington following a xxt bond-selling tour, was his brother’s best man.

The ceremony was followed by a reception. A beautiful three-tier wedding cake featured refreshments of ice cream, fruit cake, cookies, candy, coffee and fruit punch.

Leave On Trip To Florida

Mr. and Mrs. Schafer left on a wedding trip to Florida. For her going xx outfit, the bride chose a fawn xxxd suit with brown accessories xxx powder blue hat. Upon their xxxx, they will make their home primarily with the bride’s parents 7337 Springfield Avenue.

A graduate of Sykesville High School and Western Maryland College, Mrs. Schafer was music teacher for the xxxxx in the Sykesville school and xxx past season taught piano in a xxx of music in Scarsdale, New York. The groom, who served as a radio operator in an Army Air Corp tech-xxx school and was discharged into xx after 21 months in the service, is interested with his father in farming.
