Season Marred By Vandalism

November 6, 1969

The recent Halloween observance in this area was a time of wholesome and harmless fun for many lovable little “trick or treaters.” The parades at Flohrville and Sykesville were commendable community affairs and attracted many costumed youngsters.

Unfortunately, the season was marred by the antics of some older pranksters who resorted to malicious mischief.

From Sykesville, Eldersburg, Long Meadow and Carroll Highlands came reports of eggs thrown against houses and automobiles. In one instance a rock was hurled through a picture window.

Near the Farm & Home store, Sykesville, on Friday night, a truck body, containing hay, was set afire, apparently the work of pranksters. Police are investigating.
