Work Underway On Springfield Adm. Building

June 15, 1967

Construction of Springfield State Hospital’s new Administration Building began this week. The estimated time of completion is approximately 240 calendar days. The one story building will cost approximately $263,000 and will house the offices of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Clinical Director, Accounting, Personnel, Purchasing Volunteer Activities, Director of Community Psychiatric Services, Director of Public Relations, Hospital Police and the Hospital Post Office Sub-Station.

Upon completion, the building will also be the site of a new two-position switchboard which will include additional outside trunks and the administration anticipates a great improvement in telephone communications to and from the hospital. The building was designed by William E. Gray and the general contractor is The Anchor Construction Company.
